Role purpose / summary

Contributing to the major UK infrastructure project, our client has signed a multi billion GBP
contract to supply core nuclear components to Hinkley Point C project. The Contract Manager will join
a multi-cultural team in charge of guiding the organization to accurately execute contractual duties.

The Contract Manager will need to perform in-depth analysis of contractual duties and ensure
compliance. Contracts are based on FIDIC yellow book and NEC principles.

The Contract Manager needs to develop a fully transverse approach within the business. They will liaise
with operational teams like engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, construction, commissioning,
project direction and also with support functions like legal advisors, finance, cost control.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Contractual compliance and fulfillment of duties:
    • Manage the process of Early Warnings (EWN) and Risk Reduction Meetings (RRM)
    • Perform in-depth analysis of contractual requirements to advise organization about contractual risk and opportunities. (Contract Clarification Sheet)
    • Draft or support the drafting of contractual communications toward Clients or any other stakeholders like sub suppliers, third parties.
    • Definition and follow-up of contractual requirements through compliance matrix and by use of Contract management tools.

  • Protect business interest on short and long term
    • Anticipate potential future challenging situations for the client and provide input data for project risk and opportunities register. Contract Manager will be active contributor to define contractual mitigation plan and apply it.
    • Support operational team to define if some activities requested by the Client are part of the contract scope or not and deserve a commercial offer.
    • Provide contractual support to operational team (Project Manager, Supply Chain manager) in case of claim coming from the Client or from Sub Supplier. He shall provide also contractual support to confirm client entitlement to raise a claim and to draft it.

  • Contribute to constructive approach with the Client by having a common understanding of contractual equilibrium and Project success
    • Handle regular meeting with Client counterpart and define common plan action
    • Fil common risk register with the client
    • In case of difficult matter, dig in depth Client's approach to understand blocking topics.



Key Skills/ requirements

  • Experience in large infrastructure projects, such as for Oil & Gas, transport, automotive,
  • energy sectors in engineering, supply chain, or contract & commercial management roles.
  • Experience in complex negotiation and high value contract management involving NEC or
  • FIDIC processes.
  • Language skills: High level of English (essential), French (desirable)
  • Computer literate: good experience with standard Microsoft package


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree is mandatory, Masters degree is desirable
  • Legal, Engineering or Business School Degree is also desirable.
