The Role

Our client has an exciting new opportunity for a Server Engineer to join a team of dedicated IT professionals, where you'll work on the delivery of new and exciting IT systems into a Defence environment.

You'll be working on site as part of a delivery team and take responsibility for delivery, integration and support of a major IT system for the MOD. This role is suitable for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a technical background in VMWare vSphere, NSX, vRealize and Microsoft Server domains.

As well as technical capabilities across multiple platforms and technologies, we're looking for someone that is organised with strong time and personal management skills. You will be expected to uphold quality and deliver solutions to budget and time constraints and you'll ensure that output is fully documented to a high standard.

Being a UK National and holding DV Clearance is essential upon application.

Position Requirements:

  • Work on and lead tasks to ensure delivered solution follows defined design process and MOD governance procedures and through-life processes.

  • Work on business as usual tasks, integration tasks, support and development tasks.

  • Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in information technology

  • Work with management team to drive through a culture of technical and engineering excellence and adherence to company and MOD technical governance.

  • Build and enhance relationships with peers and internal infrastructure services as well as the MOD customer.

  • Be responsible for undertaking tasks across the team as required - participation in reference groups, training and research on new functionality etc.

  • Working to be becoming recognised as a Server expert within the organisation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience with some of the following:

    • VMWare vSphere 7

    • NSX-T

    • vRealize Suite

    • Microsoft Server 2019

    • Exchange 2019

    • PKI and Two-Factor Authentication

    • ESET AV, McAfee AV

    • Veeam Backup and Recovery

    • Dell PowerEdge, Unity, Isilon hardware

    • Zero Client deployments

  • A sound technical understanding of IT concepts, including Active Directory, Group Policy Object and DNS architectures.

  • Experience in deploying and supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Services including directory, messaging, back-up and storage

  • Experience of systems integration, with appreciation of networking requirements for a server infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of Cisco and Dell network hardware, network concepts.

  • Knowledge of JSP 604 and 440 and associated JSPs would be desirable.
