Job Title: Senior Technical Program Manager
Contract: 6 Months
Location: London (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)
Overview
We are working with a large, complex organisation undergoing a multi‑year digital and technology transformation across its supply chain and logistics landscape. They are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to provide strategic leadership and hands‑on delivery across multiple high‑impact technical programmes.
In this role, you will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of sophisticated technical initiatives, from early concept through to successful delivery. You will act as a true partner to Product and Engineering leadership, balancing cross‑functional dependencies, driving alignment, and ensuring delivery remains smooth, efficient, and outcome‑focused.
This is a senior, visible role requiring strong technical foresight, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to operate confidently in a complex, fast‑moving environment. You will lead through influence, operate as a servant leader, and empower teams to continuously improve across people, process, and technology.
The Role
As Senior Technical Program Manager, you will act as the technology lead across major projects and programmes that underpin a large‑scale logistics and supply chain transformation. Technology is central to enabling future growth and operational efficiency, and this role plays a key part in shaping and delivering those outcomes.
You will work closely with engineering and product teams, business stakeholders, and external suppliers to provide oversight, direction, and delivery assurance across all stages of the programme lifecycle. You will also champion data‑led decision making and act as a role model for modern digital behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Programme & Delivery Leadership
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical programmes from inception to completion.
- Supervise multiple technical deliveries and product development streams, managing cross‑team and cross‑vendor dependencies.
- Ensure all programmes align to organisational strategy, objectives, and transformation goals.
- Provide clear oversight of delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Act as a trusted partner to Product, Engineering, and senior business stakeholders.
- Build strong, trust‑based relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Drive engagement through clear objectives, outcomes, and measures (e.g. OKRs).
- Confidently challenge assumptions, scope, costs, and delivery approaches where required.
Team Leadership & Enablement
- Manage, empower, and support team members through coaching, mentoring, and delegation.
- Encourage progression, engagement, and retention within delivery teams.
- Operate as a servant leader, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across people, process, and technology.
Commercial, Risk & Governance
- Own the creation of business cases to articulate benefits and secure investment.
- Manage programme budgets, costs, risks, and dependencies, ensuring appropriate controls and mitigation strategies are in place.
- Lead impact assessments and provide informed challenge on proposed delivery approaches and supplier quotes.
- Support the Head of Technology Programme Management in delivering team objectives and shaping future strategy.
Technology & Transformation
- Coordinate platform upgrades, critical maintenance, and hardware/software enhancements.
- Lead the evaluation of new data and technology tooling, coordinating proof of concepts through to implementation.
- Apply appropriate delivery methodologies (Agile, hybrid, or traditional) depending on programme context.
- Maintain a service‑first mindset, ensuring solutions are robust, supportable, and operationally effective.
About You
You are an experienced Technical Program Manager with a strong background delivering large‑scale, complex technology initiatives in operational environments. You combine strategic thinking with a hands‑on delivery mindset and are comfortable operating in ambiguity.
Experience & Skills
- Extensive programme and project management experience across multiple delivery models.
- Proven experience leading large, multi‑faceted technology transformation initiatives.
- Strong background working in Agile environments.
- Experience in service management with a focus on operational excellence.
- Ability to understand and interpret operational data, metrics, and performance measures.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing costs, risks, and suppliers.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to challenge existing ways of working and drive better outcomes.
- Highly effective communicator with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Essential
- Experience working with technology in Supply Chain and Logistics environments.
- Passion for solving complex problems and fixing root causes, not just symptoms.
- Open‑minded, curious, and motivated to improve how things are done.
- Highly organised with a focused, structured approach to delivery.
