The role you'll do

As a Scala Developer, you'll be carrying out development in accordance with the agreed requirements and development standards, and testing products to check adherence with the test strategy, ensuring they're fit for purpose. Providing support to the Team Leader, you'll examine packages of work and give realistic timescales for completion.

More broadly, you'll ensure the completion of work allocated within the agreed time, cost and quality criteria and provide progress reports on the assigned work as required. When necessary, you'll handle the prompt escalation of problems, issues and risks. You'll also actively contribute to process improvement and be aware of compliance with all relevant quality processes and procedures, including completion of all the specified quality records.

Lastly, you'll have management and control of problems and change within your area of responsibility as requested by the Team Leader, including negotiating with other teams as necessary.

The experience and skills you need

  • To succeed in this role, you'll need to have excellent and demonstrable commercial experience in programming, back-end and automated testing solutions. You'll have experience in software development, preferably with Scala, or alternatively Java8, as well as a good understanding of web/agile technologies and protocols.
  • You'll also be practised at using and implementing modern front-end web technologies such as HTML5, be adept with CSS3, AJAX, REST and JSON, and skilled with GMC Inspire Designer, Automation and Interactive.
