The Role

The Principal Wintel Consultant is required to provide technical guidance and assistance through provision of complex technical consultation on current and proposed WINTEL systems. Therefore, the successful candidate must have a strong background in Information Technology (ideally in the deployed military capability environment) and have a clear understanding of the challenges of information security.

This role will be based at MoD Corsham.

Main responsibilities may include:

  • Provide 'root cause' analysis and support of the OpNET Core Windows Server Infrastructure (Physical and Virtual) as well as other related devices and applications using existing automation and orchestration techniques.
  • Provide OpNET Technical assistance and guidance as required.
  • Responsible for providing support to sustain various systems and services required to meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Provide Complex technical consultation on current and proposed WINTEL systems.
  • Accountable for monitoring and reporting on health and performance, reviewing daily logs and reports to detect recurring slowdowns or errors in Windows Systems.
  • Accountable for supporting, maintaining and administrating Windows Equipment.
  • Maintain Operational Level Agreements (OLA) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) surrounding incidents and requests.
  • In instances where an incident exceeds SLA criteria, responsible for the Root Cause analysis and to support rectification of shortcomings.
  • Act as a technical escalation point to External L4 Resolver Group for incidents and service requests where required.
  • Support development of Processes, Procedures and documentation to ensure high quality customer support.
  • Work with External WINTEL Resolver to support Automation/Orchestration, management, coordinate routine maintenance and upgrades of all supported infrastructure.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for a range of Windows Server and related technologies to include Exchange, Skype, SharePoint, ADFS, Scripting, VMware, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), SolarWinds (develop to include other technologies employed within the programme.
