Job Title: Principal Electrical CAD Designer
Location: London
Rate: Market rates
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
A key member of the Hardware Engineering team, this role will be to create and review electrical designs and drawings to deliver on a Defence maritime platform management project.
Due to continued growth to support a high profile project, this role is increasing our existing Electrical CAD Design team capability and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce electrical schematics using AutoCAD electrical
- Support the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Provide electrical engineering support to the Electrical Design Engineering team
- Develop component libraries to support schematics
- Review electrical schematics in accordance with relevant standards and internal Computer Aided Design (CAD) processes.
- Maintain documents and drawings through development and production changes
- Support schedule and work package estimates, where required
- Collaboratively support other engineering functions from a mechanical drawing perspective
- To be aware of and comply with company standards of conduct and all relevant statutory requirements.
- Raise and action Change Notes (CN)
- Manage and adhere to configuration management processes for baseline control throughout the full project lifecycle
- Review output of junior members of the team
General Operational duties
- Attend department meetings as required
- Remain compliant with all applicable processes and procedures
- Support the Electrical Line Manager in developing and growing a professional and engaged team

Person Specification
Essential qualifications / experience
- Strong experience in an Electrical CAD position
- Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards, including Lloyds Register and other Military Standards (e.g. Def Stan 59-411)
- Ability to work independently on own initiative, as well as within a collaborative team environment
- Ability to work under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment
- Hold SC clearance or ability to achieve it
Preferred qualifications / experience
- Experience of working within a regulated industry (e.g. automotive, aviation, defence, rail etc.)
- Experience in the use of Windchill PLM
- Understanding and working knowledge of Defence programs
Other requirements
- Clearance requirements: Post-holder must/able to hold and maintain UK Government clearances where required
