£44,000 - £48,000 depending on experience

OVERVIEW
To enhance project performance and stability through the collection, analysis, investigation and reporting of meaningful cost information to allow informed decision-making at a program, project and zonal level.
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
The role will be responsible for all aspects of cost control within one of the five principal zones on a DMP project. This will include governance and SME advice on cost capture; the collection, processing and analysis of actuals data; providing multi-layered reporting both internally and externally and providing justification, analysis and recommendations based on data and supporting investigations. This role will also carry additional management responsibilities and will be responsible for the line management as well as coordination of the workloads and outputs of the other zonal cost controllers (senior cost controllers).
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences

  • Managing actuals against multiple cost performance baselines
  • Managing change against multiple performance baselines
  • Producing internal and external monthly reporting
  • Conducting data analysis and recommendations
  • Coordinating forecasts from activity owners
  • Conducting variance investigations
  • Coordinating in-depth investigations
  • Experience of a cost control/management environment
  • An understanding of project controls, specifically cost control, earned value, finance, scheduling or estimating
  • Previous leadership and management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Data analysis
  • Stakeholder management
  • Personal effectiveness and drive.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • APMP/ or equivalent
  • Experience of a purpose-built cost management system (Cobra, Ecosys et cetera)
  • Experience of Qualifying Defence Contracts
  • Educated to degree level (preferably in business, finance or engineering discipline)



Grade
This position is within the Central Services business unit as a Grade 6 which has a salary of £43,445 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.

This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in Plymouth, Devon in the south west of England.
