We are looking for a Principal Estimator to join our Submarine Business Unit, as a key member of our established, but developing estimating team. Main Purpose of Role
Working within a dynamic project environment, you will be responsible for the management and co-ordination of a team of Senior and Functional Estimators in the production of multi-disciplined Labour estimates. These estimates will be derived from Work Specification, Drawings and Site (boat) visits, and your leadership and team outputs will be key to the successful delivery of Submarine contracts and the capture of additional or emergent work required during the Project Execution Phase of our Submarine maintenance projects. Combining your enquiring approach and analytical skills, you will provide insightful management information which will support senior management decision making. You will continually develop the capabilities within your team and strive to develop and maintain a high performing estimating and cost analysis function, utilising the most up to date tools and techniques.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
With proven estimating experience, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, allied to good numerate and written communication and strong computer literacy. You will possess strong stakeholder management in situations of competing priorities and enjoy working in a busy and dynamic environment.

We would also like you to have some of the following attributes:
*Strong leadership and team development
*Previous team management experience;
*Demonstrable evidence of having worked in a relevant project or estimating capacity;
*A working knowledge of Work Measurement, Cost Estimating, Cost and Data Analysis, Cost modelling and Assurance;
*An analytical approach to your work;
*The ability to interpret written engineering specifications and technical drawings;
*Be able to formulate costs and relate these to actual activities across trades;
*Methodical and thorough, with a questioning mind and strong problem solving abilities;
*Good team player, enthusiastic and interested / willing to mentor and develop others;
*Strong computer skills, particularly with regards estimating software, Microsoft Excel and Word.

Qualifications
Educated to HNC level (or recognised equivalent in Project Management or Project Controls).

Grade
This position is within the Submarine business unit as a Grade 6 which has a salary of £44,205 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.

This role is based at Devonport Royal Dockyard which is located in the vibrant city of Plymouth, Devon in the south west of England.
