POSITION: Platform Engineer (MongoDB)

SALARY: £90K (Skillset dependant)
ROLE
Responsible for building functional systems to help us keep our environments running smoothly.
Platform Engineers responsibilities include continuous integration and delivery pipeline, cloud and datacentre infrastructure and site reliability. You must have a keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills and be a team player.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Own the platform and the CI/CD pipelines
· Champion the DevOps culture within your squad
· Set up monitoring and alerting processes on the symptoms and not outages
· Improve the deployment process to make it as straightforward and efficient as possible
· Document every action so your findings turn into repeatable actions-and then into automation
· Design, build and maintain core infrastructure
· Debug platform issues across services and levels of the stack
· Plan the growth of our infrastructure to support our products and services
· Write procedures for backup and disaster recovery for MongoDB
· Maintain and configure MongoDB instances
· Configure, monitor, and deploy MongoDB replica sets
· Upgrade MongoDB databases through patches
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
· Experience as an Infrastructure, DevOps, Platforms or Site Reliability Engineer
· Experience with Infrastructure as Code build tools like Terraform
· Experience with server configuration and automation tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet
· Understand and be an advocate of the DevOps culture and squad mentality in software development
· Experience using system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks
· Experience using CI/CD tools and platforms
· Ability to learn new languages and technologies
· Strong communication skills and able to work collaboratively, where required as part of a team
· Good problem-solving skills
· Specialised technical knowledge of the MongoDB platform
· Previous working experience as a MongoDB Developer for (x) year(s) - 2?
· Knowledge of Amazon DocumentDB
DESIRABLE
· Previous hands on experience moving products and infrastructure from traditional data centre to cloud provider
· Hands on experience with GitLab
· HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
· Certified Kubernetes Administrator
· Red Hat Certified Specialist in Advanced Automation
QUALIFICATION
· MongoDB Certified DBA
