Network Operations Engineer
I'm currently recruiting for a worldwide humanitarian organisation that is looking for several Network Operations Engineer to join their team. Wondering about a day in the life of a Network Operations Engineer? You'll:
- Build, configure, and administer network devices, services, and components, ensuring they meet business needs and performance targets.
- Help modernise how we securely access services, re-thinking the role of the corporate network and reliance upon MPLS.
- Reflecting and identifying areas for improvement, such as updating runbooks, enhancing monitoring, or analysing patterns of issues to optimise service delivery and management.
- Apply technical expertise to support program delivery and perform maintenance tasks aligned with industry best practices and security standards.
- Perform technical support activities and routine maintenance tasks, adhering to modern device management principles and organizational best practices.
What Does It Take to Be a Successful Platforms Operations Engineer?
- Stay updated on networking best practices, including Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Zero-Trust networking, and cloud services.
- Possess strong product knowledge of Cisco and Meraki network devices and services, covering firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Have experience providing remote support for a diverse estate of 200+ sites, including multi-seat call / contact centres, ensuring the continuous availability of critical services like our national support line.
- Demonstrate expertise in hardening systems in line with accepted best practices (CISecurity benchmarks and Microsoft Security Score) to obtain assurance.
- Ideally, hold one or more relevant Cisco qualifications/certifications at Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Level or higher.
