Job Title: Linux System Administrator

Location: Leicester or Hursley

Working Model: On-site

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initial contract until 29th November 2024

Daily Rate: Up to £540

Contract: Inside IR35 via Umbrella (Paystream, Advance, Giant)

Sector: Government Project

Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance required

Job Description:

As a Linux System Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our Linux-based systems, ensuring their reliability, security, and performance. You will work closely with our IT team to support the infrastructure needs of the project and contribute to its success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Linux operating systems
  • Utilize the Command Line Interface (CLI) for efficient system management
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation and task management
  • Manage networking components to ensure seamless communication and connectivity
  • Oversee file system and storage management to optimize data access and security
  • Implement and manage virtualization technologies, including Hyper-V
  • Deploy and manage systems using Red Hat Satellite
  • Automate IT processes and infrastructure management with Ansible
  • Containerize applications and manage Docker environments
  • Collaborate with development teams using GitLab for version control and CI/CD pipelines

Experience/Skill Set Required:

  • Proficiency with Red Hat Linux Operating System
  • Strong understanding and use of the Command Line Interface (CLI)
  • Expertise in shell scripting for automation
  • Solid networking knowledge and experience
  • Competence in file system and storage management
  • Experience with Hyper-V and virtualization technologies
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite for system deployment and management
  • Skill in using Ansible for IT automation
  • Experience with Docker for containerization
  • Knowledge of GitLab for source control and CI/CD

Qualifications:

Relevant certifications in Linux system administration (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE)

Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a government or high-security environment

Active SC Clearance is mandatory for this role
