Experis has an exciting new 12-month contract as an infrastructure architect, working on a remote basis. The successful candidate will have desired experience within the financial sector but not necessary.

Title- Infrastructure architect

Length- 12 months

Location- Remote

Rate- £550- £650 p/d (umbrella)

Role description

You will be an Infrastructure Architect within Advisory & Implementation Services, helping various customers from designing small innovation accelerators to large scale delivery projects. This role concentrates on the architectural support on infrastructures including servers, storage, middleware, non-application software, networks, and the physical facilities that support the applications and business processes required by the client. Included in the focus areas is the critical evaluation on the performance of the various components in the infrastructure. Infrastructure Architects are responsible for performance, availability, and scalability of the infrastructure.

You will be a key member of the account and architect teams analysing complex/new situations, anticipate potential problems and future trends, assess opportunities, impacts, risks, develop and implement solutions. You will be expected to guide other professionals, adapt communications and approaches to conclude negotiations with various partners, resulting in common agreements. You are expected to be innovative and develop solutions using the latest technologies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create the required artifacts (design document, diagrams, build book, etc..)
  • Design and implement the infrastructure to support the solution
  • Work closely with various teams to gather business and technical requirements
  • Accountable for successful delivery of highly complex, multi-disciplined consulting engagements that deliver lasting and measurable value to clients
  • Develop a point of view, capture, prioritise and analyse technical (functional and non-functional) requirements
  • Possess strong leadership skills and further the evolution of intellectual capital assets and developing architectural resources
  • Manage the technical architectural contract terms and conditions
  • Educate, mentor and coach teams in applying architectural techniques
  • Leading the teams during Major Incidents and provide recommendations on fastest path to the major incident recovery or supporting technical delivery teams with root cause analysis for Major Incidents

Essential skills and experience

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Hands-on experience in solution design and delivery
  • Experience in delivering complex IT projects
  • Strong understanding & delivery experience of architecture frameworks
  • Good understanding of a typical Well Architected framework type of methodology for defining Architectures
  • Detailed understanding of one or more infrastructure components (Network, Storage, Server, Visrtualisation, Kubernetes) and associated toolsets
  • Experience using agile delivery methods
  • Good communication skills, able to articulate complex technologies to project managers and customer technical enterprise
  • Storage
  • Understanding of concepts and requirements of Business Continuity (Disaster Recover, Backup)
  • Strong Organisational skills and able to work without supervision

Desirable skills and experience

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Hyperscaler knowledge and experience (Microsoft Azure Cloud / AWS / Google)
  • The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of security
  • Good knowledge of Advanced storage solutions and concepts
  • Good knowledge of Network standards and designs, TCPIP
  • Knowledge in Infrastructure as Code for Terraform and/or other technologies
  • Knowledge of regulatory areas: i.e PCI - DSS1/2, Financial Services Micro and Macro Regulatory requirements, ONR for utilities, OfCom, CESG IL1-4, etc
  • Knowledge of Aws, Azure and Google Cloud
  • Understanding of DevSecOp pipelines for CI/CD
  • Client Facing Success Driven
  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles.
  • Exposed to demands of travel and irregular work hours
