The focus of your role
The primary focus of the role will be to act as a developer and carry out Front End Development work primarily focussed around accessibility.
What you'll do
The Digital Inclusion, Accessibility and Standards team conducted an WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audit of parts of the one of the services we maintain. You will be required assist in the resolution of these issues to ensure we meet WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)2.1 to a minimum of level AA.
To comply with the Regulations to make public sector websites and mobile applications accessible you will assist in the development to ensure that all the level A and AA issues identified are fixed. Once of your main aims is the ensure this service can publish a fully compliant accessibility statement.
Alongside this you may also be required to review and provide recommendations on the results of code checks and observations on usability and non-compliance with the GOV.UK Design system.
You may be required to engage and consult with the customer on the best method of development, clearly spelling out the possible risks and benefits (including financial and operational impacts), which will be gained from the development of the required Accessibility features.
