Finance Product Development Accountant

Our client is currently searching for a Finance Product Development Accountant to join their team and to play a key role in shaping financial processes for cross-functional change initiatives.
Within this role you will represent Finance in major projects, ensuring compliance, minimising disruption and supporting continuous improvement. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- This role has responsibility for activities that span both Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Ltd. (referred to as VWFS UK) and VW Bank GmbH (UK Branch) (referred to as VW Bank UK) and therefore the role holder will comply with any applicable rules, regulations and standards in relation to (but not limited to), our European Organisational Handbook (E-OHB), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and European Central Bank (ECB)
- Be a subject matter expert on our core products and processes including an understanding of the Accounting Posting Books and chart of accounts associated to those products
- Be a team specialist for the new applications/capability being delivered
- Attend project meetings as required, managing diary and meeting conflicts
- Understand the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on the main accounting systems to ensure system integrity, particularly in relation to specific balance sheet and profit & loss accounts, highlighting issues as necessary
- Support in the writing of business requirements, clarifying accounting treatment and process with the functional team
- Collaborating with the business analysts, developers and testers in the delivery of the requirements
- Understand the impact of operational changes to procedures and core business systems
- Learn the key features of the new applications
- Input into migration and reconciliation activity
- Co-ordinating the completion of process maps and procedures/tasks to be performed by the functional team
- Support colleagues within the Finance workstreams as required
- Provide regular updates to the Finance Product Team/One Finance Senior Leadership team
- Secure decisions/escalations where required
- Review UAT where appropriate to ensure that key controls are included within testing to deliver a robust solution
- Co-ordinate and contribute to the completion of training material and subsequent training roll outs to impacted colleagues
Experience Required:
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified accountant (or QBE)
- Change management techniques are preferable (Prince2, Six Sigma)
- Previous experience in the financial services industry
- Knowledge of SAP and cross functional Finance activities covering month end tasks, transaction processing and AP & AR operations
- Experience of working on operational/transformational projects, driving & leading change
- Understanding of system accounting reconciliation experience in a Finance environment
- Experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders
- A self-starter with a proactive approach and the ability to react appropriately and effectively to fast changing circumstances and demands, without losing focus on the balance between flexibility and control
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with both Finance and non-Finance staff at all levels
- Delivery focused, high level of drive, self-motivation, and a strong team player with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
- Ability to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines
- Strong organisational ability and problem solving
- Requirement to develop understanding of the VWFS (UK) business model and systems and understand within the scope of the Project, where changes to these processes and systems may impact on financial reporting, operations and controls
- Working knowledge of SAP FI, Credit Finance Contract Management Systems preferable
