Data Engineer- 3 Positions
Location: Birmingham(preferred)/London/Leeds/Bristol - Partially VOE
Duration: 6 Months initial
Why has the role come about -
We are engaging in a transformation initiative that has a underpinning requirement for Data Engineering activity. The primary intention is to develop data products within the GCP cloud environment, this would include discovery and evaluation of available data sources, ingestion of new data (If required) as well as migration activity from pre-existing Oracle warehouses. Support and maintenance of processing should there be a persistent requirement from analytical customer teams.
Day to day responsibilities
Providing thought leadership and development of best practice and ways of working. Peer review of development activity. Development of data products against specified requirements or realising design activity - creating efficient and sustainable code. Stakeholder management and engagement. Data Discovery, landing of new data into the GCP environment and the curation thereof.
Experience/skills/background required for the position -
- SQL, background developing/ data engineering on cloud based environments with preference to GCP, optimisation and enhancement of processing and data flows.
- Experience of migration from on prem rdbms to cloud environment.
- Evidenced competence in Oracle SQL, Hadoop, Python, PL/SQL or SparkSQL
