What is the role

This is an opportunity for an experienced and talented Application Architect to help build our Smart Buildings platform. We have already built our initial Smart City platform using AWS technology and the Smart Buildings products will be re-using some of that capability. The role is to lead the design and specification of components that will make up the overall solution. We use an agile methodology and you will be working, amongst others with the product owner to specify components for an off-shore delivery team to build. You will also provide oversight on the products testing, acceptance and path to production.


Essential Functional / Technical Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with approximately 10 years' experience in product application development and delivery
  • Extensive experience architecting, and designing applications with some on a Cloud environment (AWS preferred)
  • IT Development background, with agile experience
  • Practical understanding of application delivery within a multidiscipline organisation
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) to all levels, from technical discussions with developers to presentations with business stakeholders and customers
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
  • Full understanding of Cloud authentication, Authorisation and best security practices

Desirable Functional / Technical Skills

  • Experience in Refactoring, Re-writing and Decoupling applications
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. Powershell, Python, Bash, Javascript/Node, Ruby, Perl, etc.) or relevant
  • Understanding LoraWan/IoT technologies
  • Hands on familiarity with Infra as a code
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
