AI / Python Developer - Up to £60,000 - Birmingham (Hybrid)
We're looking for a hands?on Python Developer with some real world experience delivering AI powered features or applications. You don't need to be an AI expert, just someone who's worked with modern LLM tools and is comfortable learning as the capability grows.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys building reliable back?end services, experimenting with AI APIs, and contributing to early?stage product development.
What you'll be involved in
- Building and maintaining Python based services and APIs (FastAPI or similar).
- Working with LLM providers such as OpenAI, Claude, or comparable platforms.
- Creating data layers with SQLAlchemy and working with relational databases.
- Using Redis for caching or performance improvements.
- Supporting internal dashboards or lightweight tooling (Dash or alternatives).
- Deploying and running applications in Azure App Services.
- Helping improve performance, reliability, and security as systems scale.
- Working closely with product and engineering teams to shape early AI capabilities.
What we're looking for
You don't need to tick every box, we're looking for someone with a solid Python background and professional AI exposure who can grow with the role.
Essential
- Strong Python development experience.
- Experience building APIs (FastAPI preferred, but not mandatory).
- Practical experience integrating at least one LLM API in a professional capacity.
- Comfortable with SQLAlchemy or similar ORM tools.
- Familiarity with Azure or another major cloud provider.
- Understanding of secure, well?structured API design.
Nice to have
- Redis knowledge.
- Experience with Dash or other UI tooling.
- Exposure to CI/CD, IaC, or cloud monitoring tools.
- Background workers, async tasks, or lightweight MLOps concepts.
