Day rate: £450 Umbrella Only
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Service Designer. You will be responsible for designing end-to-end service journeys that are user-centred, inclusive, and compliant with NHS and government digital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead service design activities across the programme, ensuring alignment with public sector policy, clinical workflows, and user needs.
- Map current and future state service journeys, identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate co-design workshops with patients, clinicians, stakeholders, and delivery teams.
- Produce service blueprints, journey maps, and design artefacts to support agile development and delivery.
- Collaborate with user researchers, content designers, interaction designers, and developers to ensure cohesive service experiences.
- Ensure services meet accessibility, safety, and data protection standards.
- Advocate for inclusive design and contribute to design governance and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in service design within healthcare or public sector programmes.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design, systems thinking, and agile delivery.
- Ability to translate complex clinical and operational requirements into intuitive service experiences.
- Experience producing service blueprints, journey maps, and design documentation.
- Familiarity with NHS digital standards, GDS guidelines, and accessibility legislation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in tools such as Miro, Figma, Lucidchart, and Jira/Confluence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on NHS screening programmes or clinical service transformation.
- Understanding of patient pathways, clinical safety standards, and health data governance.
- Background in UX, interaction design, or policy design is a plus.
