One of the world's leading defence, aerospace, technology and security companies, are recruiting for a Senior Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis, located in Farnborough


This role will see you be responsible for key aspects of financial management for a major contract of work within the defence sector - a secure long-term partnership with the MoD - where you will provide financial intelligence and insights across all aspects of the contract.


Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will set the standard for others to match on customer focus and engagement that delivers financial information of the highest calibre, that is accurate, relevant and timely. You will positively engage and influence across business stakeholders to drive a financial culture of 'no surprises' that values the highest levels of integrity and performance

About your new role

This role is responsible for: assuring the highest level of financial control and the provision of financial advice and instruction relating to the costs of delivery of a major defence contract. This is achieved by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information used within the business and external stakeholders.


Key Duties include:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the project cost base is clearly understood, challenged and accurately reported and that key messages are clearly articulated to all relevant stakeholders

  • To be the focal point for Cost Centre managers including oversight on LBE's, month end performance, forecasting and budgeting.

  • Focus on the project accounting, including management of the FCAC, ensure compliance and good practice is in place by supporting the project management delivery. Ensuring that the complex month end project accounting is set up correctly to ensure revenue reporting and governance is robust and accurate and in line with the FCAC across the project

  • Collate and clearly articulate the tasking overview financial picture and share this view with senior management.

  • Assist across the project to help the business to drive efficiencies in the programme and drive margin improvements.

  • Work alongside the financial controller - to establish a thorough cost governance regime that will challenge and ensure that the project incurs the costs necessary to deliver its contractual obligations.

  • Have key responsibility for ensuring that the Annual Review Cost Certificate financials are accurate and act as the focal point for the MoD CAAS annual audit.


About you

  • Qualified Accountant, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent

  • Experience in a similar project accounting led role

  • Excellent knowledge of SAP system

  • Ability to influence stakeholders up to a senior level

  • Industry sector experience in Defence or similar is highly desirable
