Research Manager

A fantastic opportunity to join a professional membership services organisation within their Marketing Team. This role is a new role so looking for someone with experience as a Research manager to come in take the lead or someone who is ready for the next step up to manager, to make it their own and be passionate about driving this role to ultimately increase members and engagement.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of delivering research/content to support marketing campaigns
  • Experience of conducting both primary and secondary research
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to undertake literature reviews, including establishing search criteria, gathering and synthesising policy documents and research studies
  • Understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, research design and ethics and governance
  • High level numerical and analytical skills
  • Ability to write about complex market information in a clear, concise and engaging manner
  • Experience with digital delivery of research outputs eg data visualisation
  • Ability to measure the impact of research initiatives

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

RESEARCH PRODUCTION

  • Planning, managing and coordinating all research outputs
  • Working with internal stakeholders and external contractors to plan work, agree deadlines, monitor progress and ensure work is delivered to these plans
  • Working with marketing, comms and campaigns team to prepare and deliver communications strategies for research publications to maximize co-ordination, presentation and dissemination of messages
  • Maintaining files of key project documents, and preparing written and oral progress reports for internal and external audiences
  • Quality control of research outputs
  • Responding to research enquiries

RESEARCH STRATEGY

  • Working with Directors to developing a strategic approach to the research programme, with a clear plan for a range of research products to support the campaign and commercial targets - chiefly, the retention and acquisition of corporate members
  • Developing research proposals and setting specifications for research outputs
  • Collecting feedback and input form members to inform research proposals
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with external research organisations and relevant teams and individuals in government departments, think tanks and stakeholder organisations
  • Identifying sources of funding and sponsorship for research projects

INTERNAL EXPERT

  • Monitoring official figures and interpret these for use in the comms
  • Responding to research/data requests from members
  • Liaising with colleagues across business and researchers and stakeholders outside the business, exchanging information and ideas about key work themes
  • Keeping up to date with policy and social issues as well as qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Continually updating knowledge and understanding in the field to inform research activity
  • Explaining complex ideas in ways that can be easily understood
  • You will develop expert knowledge of the industry to support wider communication activities.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Alongside the Director of Marketing, developing the job spec for a Research Executive, and lead the hiring process
  • Line managing the Research Executive to deliver against departmental targets - including performance reviews, objective setting, 121s
  • Supporting the Director of Marketing to improve levels of collaboration and innovations throughout the team.
