Network Planning and Design Technician (Full Training Provided)

Our client, a leading Telecommunications organisation, is looking for a Network Planning and Design Technician to join them on an initial 6 month contract in their Birmingham offices.

KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • The ability to support duties in line with one or a number of planning work-stream modules to provide commercially based, cost effective network solutions within the Access network according to the Network Planning Policy and Openreach Network Quality Standards within agreed timescales to support delivery of FTTP (fibre to the premises)
  • Has the ability to plan, schedule and manage multiple work streams, in collaboration with both desk and field teams, to deliver key outcomes and milestones.
  • To deliver planning designed solution to agreed L2C FTTP timescales in line with quality of service and financial targets to meet customer demand
  • Deliver outstanding customer service at all times, demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider stakeholder team to deliver outstanding performance
  • A point of escalation for engineers and field based Co-ords when complex design solutions are required on the day
  • To positively engage with both engineers and surveyors in order to design cost effective solution
  • To calculate excess contraction charges and the ability to identify split cost chargeable to Openreach and CP



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accountable for designing a cost effective way of providing FTTP (fibre to the premises)
  • Accountable for calculating extra construction changes
  • Accountable for ensuring that all estimates raised meet the Sarbanes Oxley Compliance
  • Accountable for providing future proofed network design solutions
  • Accountable for providing accurate required by date on all raised estimates and communicating internal and external notes
  • Accountable for proactively updating the network with accurate Survey Network Notes and making necessary amendments to the FTTP network



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answering calls via the Harrier call platform from customer service centres and external contractor partner engineers
  • Raising site survey job packs
  • Ability to evaluate A55's submitted by DL and partners and challenge where required
  • Interrogate Survey return to make sure the solution is viable and calculating costs for both DL and partners
  • Investigating and ensuring that all documentation are available for suggested solution
  • Managing the wayleave process where required
  • Responsible for the delivery of key L2C Planning solutions and design
  • Responsible for updating Survey Network Notes (SNN) and Traffic management details on piper.
  • Responsible for raising Build Quality estimates
  • Ensures that Build Quality estimates are compliant with Sarbanes Oxley



Systems

  • To be able to use all the Microsoft office tools to a very high standard and have the ability to quickly pick up new IT systems.
  • Ability to read maps and planned network designs on Piper and update accordingly

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in analysing outcomes and recommending solutions
  • A proven record in delivering a fantastic customer experience
  • Able to drive for positive results as part of a highly successful team
  • Experience in working, updating and keeping records up to date within multiple systems to manage the order journey.
  • Highly focused in delivery fantastic planned solution and driving customer satisfaction
  • Team player, adept at holding others to account through a challenging and supportive style, whilst consistently delivering on their own commitments.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet demands.
  • Must be able to solve problems by taking ownership and seeking proactive solutions.



Education

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
