Job Responsibilities
As a People Relations Case Specialist, you will operate in a reactive (individual case) and proactive manner (Subject Matter Expert looking at insights, prevention and intervention)
You'll be responsible for providing full case management expertise on individual cases of a highly complex and high risk nature that require deep ER expert case management.
You'll also be responsible for delivering SME specialism that is insights led, identifying root cause resolutions and continuous improvement activity using data to identify trends, themes, learnings and intervention.
You'll
- Be self-sufficient and manage a designated case load in partnership with Senior Business Leaders.
- Ensure wellbeing, Inclusion and safe speed of resolution is enshrined in your delivery, impact assessing the colleague experience throughout the full case journey and putting in place intervention to ensure support and mitigate risk.
- Provide accurate & timely advice taking into account business and commercial requirements on all aspects of employment law and BT policy and procedures.
- Be an SME specialist looking across your designated Specialist Hub identifying trends, themes and improvement intervention (prevention)
- Use escalation channels to flag issues in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure all services and processes are delivered in accordance with agreed policies, procedures and within our Service Level Agreements.
- Ensure all activities are accurately logged & updated on the relevant case management systems to SLA and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain professional working relationships within the broader People Relations Team, HR & People Services, CFU HR, Legal, Ethics, Corporate Investigations and the wider business to effectively support the business and HR priorities and goals.
- Be a point of escalation for less experienced ER & HR colleagues and provide coaching where necessary.
- Design, deliver and lead training and lead ad hoc ER projects such as process, policy or product improvement.
- Maintain your knowledge and expertise to steer people managers in a changing environment, ensuring you are up to date with BT Group business strategy, People metrics (data), employment law and Employment Tribunal case findings by maintaining great relationships with key stakeholders.

What you'll need to have
- A self-starter who can work individually and part of a team managing your workload autonomously with limited supervision.
- Extensive experience in providing full case management support to highly complex and high risk Employee Relations case matters across the full spectrum of ER case topics,
- Evidence of being an expert and having a strategic mindset managing cases end to end; risk and impact assessing highly complex and high risk cases at each stage.
- Extensive experience of managing cases in line with relevant Employment Law and ACAS Code of Practice
- Extensive experience working in a fast paced case environment and to SLA's
- Adept at using data as part of case work to obtain broader insights into the case/issues
- Able to develop and deliver ER related training to all levels of employee across the organisation - including Senior Leaders.
- Experience of challenging the status quo, bringing outside in thinking to enhance ways of working, policy and procedures.
- Experience of taking continuous improvement ideas through to development with a process or policy change.
- Builds strong relationships with colleagues, teams and stakeholders.
- Able to risk horizon scan, spotting issues early and putting remedies in place and escalating upwards to mitigate risk.
- Excellent collaborator, influencer and communicator.
- Able to manage workload autonomously, to KPI's and with good influence and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong IT skills - Case management systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software.
- Hold or working towards Level 5 CIPD, or relevant ER experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in an ER team.
- Experience of Unions and Employment Tribunals.
- Good Communication skills - clear, simple, unambiguous, and well-structured so others always understand.
- Stakeholder engagement - listens to others views and has confidence to interact with all areas and levels within our business.
