Job Summary
Defines and manages end-to-end transformation programmes or projects (in this case the Sustainable Future Transformation) supporting business sponsors in bringing cross-functional teams together to scope, solve problems, manage progress and ensure the committed outcomes are delivered

Our newly-launched Plan A initiative will make the business Net Zero by 2040, 10 years ahead of UK government mandate. This is a hugely ambitious and exciting long-term programme which touches all parts of the business.

We are looking for a Head of Transformation to help us design the programme office and progress it, driving value streams and initiatives forward, solving problems and ensuring we progress at pace. We have identified the key workstreams and high-level targets, but we need you to help us make it happen. This is a business change role, looking at the full-scope of change within a transformation programme in one of our most challenging and important programs.

Key accountabilities

The Head of Transformation will be responsible for structuring the overall transformation, bringing cross-functional teams together to fully scope the change required, solve problems, inject pace, phase delivery to align with Commercial Strategy, and ensure the committed outcomes are delivered. They will:

  • Work with business owners and teams to scope and plan the more detailed targets, milestones, objectives and benefits/budget beneath our high-level commitments.
Oversee initiatives and value streams, working with cross-functional teams to deliver the change, including problem solving and coordination of stakeholders, bringing content expertise where possible
  • Work with the workstream leads to prepare progress reporting as required, flagging and resolving risks, issues and dependencies across the programme
  • Work closely with finance to phase the programme and optimise at group level

This is more than a project manager role. We are looking for candidates that can bring experience in fully scoping the "what" as well as managing the "how" in the transformation space and who can work with cross-functional teams to challenge, influence, solve problems and "get things done". This experience is likely to have been gained via either/or a combination of:

  • In-house experience delivering strategic change across commercial and enabling areas in retail / consumer, not just in back-office transformation.
  • Experience in thinking through technical, financial, consumer and colleague implications
  • Experience working at a consulting firm with multiple clients across diverse range of transformation activity, with experience in transformation from scoping through to delivery

Key experience and skills

  • Experience managing complex transformation programmes and value streams from initiation to execution including co-ordination of all elements of business change
  • Used to working with and communicating with senior stakeholders (C-Suite)
  • Financially literate, with understanding and experience of financial information as it applies to Programme Delivery and management
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver who understands the bigger picture of why we are delivering change and is able to utilise this when involved in detail
  • Ability to quickly understand complex problems and order thinking to come to solutions
  • Open to continuously improve the ways of working to support delivery of business outcomes - including a clear desire for and ability to drive simplicity
  • Clear communicator with the confidence and skills to challenge effectively and at all levels of the organisations

Desirable experience and skills

  • Positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to get involved and stuck in on solving a multitude of issues
  • Experience deploying agile ways of working to deliver change in a business context
  • Understanding of change management/people change methodologies and application in implementing change
  • Experience in one or more of clothing / supply chain / food / agriculture / ecommerce / global businesses
