Role Title: Google Cloud Platform Engineer

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Remote

Rate: £550-£600 - Umbrella only

Main Responsibilities:

  • GCP - specifically GKE
  • Helm
  • Containerisation
  • Building internal developer platforms using tools such as Backstage
  • CI / CD using Gitlab CI
  • Design, build, and maintain GCP cloud and hybrid solutions in collaboration with Data, Infrastructure, Network, and Security teams.
  • Familiarity with Apigee, GKE, or Google Anthos.
  • Develop documentation, architecture diagrams, and training materials to facilitate solution adoption.
  • Monitor and evaluate platforms for potential issues, recommending improvements from security and financial perspectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimize workloads.
  • Expand self-service capabilities within the developer ecosystem.
  • Review changes to GCP infrastructure, ensuring adherence to best practices and security principles.
  • Drive migration projects and execute migration plans for workloads.
  • Configure monitoring/alerting rules for GCP resources.
  • Research and implement industry best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote cloud adoption.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical business alerts and mitigate incidents. What We Are Looking For:
  • 3+ years of experience with GCP, including exposure to Google Big Query.
  • Strong understanding of cloud solution design, with a focus on security and automation.
  • Familiarity with automated deployment/orchestration tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and Rundeck.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Experience with configuration management platforms like Ansible.
  • Thorough knowledge of logging and observability tools such as Operations (formerly Stackdriver), Honeycomb, New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Comfortable with programming/scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Personable, approachable, and enthusiastic about adopting new technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to articulate solutions conforming to agreed standards and challenge proposed solutions where necessary.

Desirable Skills:

    • Integration experience
    • webMethods
