Global Benefits Manager

Location - Birmingham

Salary - £70,000 - £80,000 + Excellent benefits


Role Purpose
You will be responsible for all benefits programmes globally; ensuring full compliance and strategic alignment across our global footprint. You will work closely with the Global Head of Reward to design and deliver sustainable and impactful benefits offerings that closely align with the business objectives and our Employee Value Proposition.
In collaboration with the Reward team, Global People Partners, People Services Team, key business and finance stakeholders to understand the current benefits landscape so that you can design, optimise and implement new programs across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and (where needed) implementation of benefits globally; managing the end to end proces, including giving the business a detailed view on where they are, where changes can be made and the commercial impact of any change programme.
  • Benefits Benchmarking: Working on in-flight project deliver to benchmark of our employee benefits across our key international geographies. Including the creation of action plans and benefit road maps.
  • Develop options to support the future strategic development of benefit provisions and resolution to critical issues arising from new legislation, changes in market practices and business requirements.
  • Benefits Analysis and Optimisation: Conduct regular analysis of current benefits schemes, evaluating plan performance, utilisation, harmonisation opportunities and cost-effectiveness. Identify opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
  • Working closely with members of the Reward and People team, design, optimise and implement innovative, cost-efficient employee benefits that position us competitively.
  • Periodically review and test administration processes for global benefits to ensure data integrity and efficiencies are optimised.
  • In partnership with Global Head of Reward and Chief People Officer, prioritise and schedule benefits reviews/ implementations with key markets in line with commercial growth agenda.
  • Partner with Pensions Manager to align and deliver competitive overall benefit package that attracts, motivates and retains talent
  • Partner with global brokers/local teams to develop and manage benefits renewals to effectively manage spend, communicate and oversee the governance model. Manage relationships to ensure benefits deliver value for money.
  • Lead contract negotiations for strategic vendor renewals, ensuring best terms and meaningful SLAs
  • Provide leadership on projects (i.e., redesign initiatives, key vendor implementations), ensure programs support our global wellbeing and diversity & inclusion strategies.
  • Proactively drive the benefits aspect of acquisitions, disposals and other corporate transactions from due-diligence, pre-contract negotiation stages through to post contract operations
  • Review arrangements for Senior Executives, providing advice and flexible/innovative solutions where necessary to support retention.
  • Collate, develop and manage full benefits inventory and budgets.
  • Oversee strong communication strategies for improved awareness and engagement so that this enhances the employee experience by making it easy for employees to navigate their benefits and wellbeing programmes.
  • Develop data-driven proposals and measure benefits efficiency through financial expenditures, competitive benchmarking, claims data, plan participation, market trends and demographic changes.
  • In partnership with procurement identify cost savings/avoidance opportunities.
  • Continually benchmark programs to ensure competitiveness including providing regular reporting and updates on changing legislation, market trends and benchmark data.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • A Bachelor's degree required with strong financial acumen.
  • Experience with managing benefit programs including health & welfare plans (ideally through brokerage arrangements), ancillary benefits and wellbeing.
  • Project focused and tenacious to plan, maintain the direction and deliver, regardless of noise and obstacles.
  • Strong quantitative skills, ability to use data analysis to proactively derive insights and support fact-based decision making.
  • Ability to build business cases and develop papers for committee & board presentations.
  • Ability to communicate, partner and influence across the People Team and at senior level, build relationships and demonstrate a strong customer focus and commitment to quality service delivery.
  • Ability to apply statistical metrics and execute processes to analyse and measure the effectiveness of benefit programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to develop and deliver locally against a global reward strategy.
  • Ability to design & implement analytical solutions in a global, complex organisations.
  • Excellent consultative skills, understanding business needs and translating those needs to technical requirements.
  • Experience in negotiations with Works Councils.
