Title: Director of Technology Delivery/Lead Release Train Engineer
Length: 12 months
Location: London
Rate: £900 - £1,150 (via umbrella)
Role Profile/ Purpose
- Overall accountability for successful implementation and delivery of technology solutions to realise the bank of the future product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Ensure programme is delivered on time, within budget, and with high quality to meet the bank's strategic objectives
The role holder will report to: Functionally to the UK WPB CIO and entity to the UK CIO
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee delivery across multiple streams of the BoTF programme, collaborating closely with all involved parties
- Own the comprehensive delivery plan, identifying and managing complex dependencies across different streams
- Work with the change functions to integrate the SDLC with BoTF programme delivery plan where relevant touch points exist
- Oversee all development, testing (except UAT), and release management within the programme
- Maintain effective relationships with the operations senior team, track, prioritize, and resolve issues and risks throughout the delivery process
- Ensure delivery is in accordance with the change management methodology: all necessary documents and artefacts are in place; tollgates are adhered to, and clear auditability of key decisions made from start to finish
- Foster positive relationships with project vendors and third parties to optimize collaboration and accountabilities
- Manage project vendor deliverables in line with contractual obligations
- Drive typical controls such as resource and financial management, planning, scope management, risk, and issue management
- Stay updated with technology trends in the Financial Services industry and adept in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Recruit and oversee teams (both agile and waterfall delivery teams) with strategic and delivery transformation expertise, fostering collaboration between business and technology roles
Key experience/ Qualifications
- 10-15+ of experience in managing large-scale projects and over-seeing multiple teams
- Experience in having successfully delivered complex, large-scale technology change within financial services, such as:
- Core banking replacement
- Delivery of a new payments platform
- Provision of, and migration to, a new Cloud infrastructure
- Modernisation of legacy technology platforms supporting important business services
- Strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies including relevant certifications e.g., CSM, PMP
- Strong understanding and experience of cloud solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement
- Highly collaborative, with demonstrable ability to network, negotiate and influence stakeholders
- Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst disparate members of different functions/areas
- Ability to apply risk assessment and management principles and processes and find ways of solving or pre-empting complex risks and issues
- Quality focused. Knows what it takes to deliver quality, sustainable systems, and can teach others to do the same
- Experience of enterprise level scale delivery working in domains with enterprise level data and security
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to produce comprehensive reports/briefings for senior stakeholders
