SAS System Administrator / Engineer (SAS 9.4)


Location: Sheffield (with remote working)
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
IR35 Status: Engagement via Umbrella only

An SAS System Administrator / Engineer with experience of performing SAS 9.4 installations, platform and security setups is required to join a financial services client. This role will be based in Sheffield with remote working on a 6-month contract with the view to extend.

About the role:
You will be migrating data and content from legacy to a new platform. This will include cluster expansions and HA/DR setups.

Key Responsibilities:
As part of your role, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing SAS 9.4 installations
  • SAS platform and GRID administration
  • Performance Tuning of SAS clusters
  • Migrating Data and content from legacy to a new platform
  • Providing application migration and warranty support to developers
  • Automating procedural tasks



Experience:
To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 3 years+ relevant platform engineering experience
  • Over 8 years overall IT experience
  • Extensive experience of SAS 9.x platform and an in-depth understanding
  • Hands-on experience of SAS configuration, installation, implementation, and application migration
  • Relevant experience of maintaining and supporting SAS Client / Server products, infrastructure, and services, working towards globally and future state aligned solutions.
  • An in-depth understanding of the SAS Platform architecture and GRID LSF administration experience
  • RDBMS: PostgreSQL, MySQL knowledge desirable
  • Linux administration experience
  • An understanding of shell scripting, integrated authentication stacks (AD / Linux integration, Krb and ldap based directory services, SSO identity services), file systems, security, secure shell, permissions, process management, regular maintenance tasks.
  • Experience of debugging issues with core services
  • Experience of interpreting and parsing system and application logs, monitoring and debugging issues with core services.


Work Pattern:

  • You should be available to work the shift pattern required for this role such as out of hours on call.


Qualifications:

  • SAS Certified Platform Administrator or other relevant qualification - desirable
