Interim Delivery Lead
6 months contract
Remote with occasional office visit in Edinburgh
Day rate up to £650PD Via Umbrella

Role Purpose
The Delivery lead owns both the delivery of the change portfolio for the domain (or sub domain) AND the performance of the BAU services in use by the Corporate Domain - ensuring that programmes and projects are delivered when needed by the business within their cost envelope and to a high quality, and that operational services are available and performing.

This role predominantly faces a strategic supplier and is responsible for that Supplier's successful delivery of technology changes and services across the full lifecycle (development, change and operational and retirement) for the scope in question.

Acts as the key decision maker and setter of direction and priority for the areas under her/his control - working closely with Business Consultant and Lead Solution Architect.

The Interim Delivery Lead role is required in order to allow the Delivery Lead to focus on the resolution of key gaps in the outsource operating model being put in place and implement the strategic target operating model. The Interim Delivery Lead will focus on the day to day tasks of the Delivery Lead role, particularly the management of the outsourced delivery vendor.

Key Outcomes

  • Develop and maintain a blueprint and strategic change roadmap for the sub-domain - working in tight alignment with Business Consultant and Lead Solution architect.
  • Develops the portfolio of change for the sub-domain - working with stakeholders and Enterprise Portfolio to ensure a deliverable and affordable change portfolio is in place and dynamically maintained.
  • Works with Supplier to ensure that forward Demand is understood, and that sufficient capability and capacity is available to fulfil the change portfolio. Holding a joint forward view of demand and supply with vendor, forming early site of delivery resource demand and delivery approach and ensuring supplier understands ask
  • Help Business Consultant with define process and front door triage ensuring accuracy of documentation and delivery cost and time profiles.
  • Owns the Initiation and Mobilisation of a Change Delivery - including engaging with supplier to agree Work Orders to delivery work required for project outcomes
  • Oversees the execution and fulfilment of the change portfolio for the sub-domain by the Supplier - ensuring that supplier delivers to time, budget and quality.
    • Sign off delivery plans and resource profiles.
    • Assurance of accurate project status, validating progress to plan versus Outcomes agreed
    • Assurance of Work Order milestones in ServiceNow (PPM Tool)
    • Assuring accuracy and management of RAID items, flagging necessary escalations
    • Assurance & Review and co-ordination of project financials, challenging where outside of forecast


· Holds overall budgetary and financial accountability for the sub-domain, ensuring that financial processes are followed and that financial targets are met.
· Holds overall accountability for the safe and secure delivery of new and changed functionality into service, including the quality of delivery and the readiness of the operational and business teams.

  • Trouble shooting project hot spots
  • Ensure relevant documentation raised with key delivery partner and assurance areas
  • Ensures stage gates are followed on projects
  • 'Glue' supplier delivery- ensuring necessary engagement with delivery partners (including other 3rd parties)
  • Review of current Change process and to highlight proposals/options for areas if remediation to make the process more efficient
  • Build out configuration library for domain, ensuring application catalogue is relevant and with domains
  • Production of packs to support domain delivery governance meetings



Skills & Experience

  • Business & Stakeholder Management
  • Proven ability to identify shifting priorities and make interventions dynamically - balancing risk and minimizing wasted investment
  • Exceptional Programme and change delivery experience - particularly when delivery is undertaken by a 3rd party supplier rather than a direct team of individuals
  • Solid knowledge of operational service management practices and norms
  • Excellent Supplier Management capability - driving supplier activity and holding them fully to account
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work across team and suppliers
  • Good knowledge of the asset management industry and robust knowledge of the available technology providers and the developing FinTech landscape
