Role: Windows Technical Specialist

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Osterley
Duration: 3 months

The Platforms and Engineering Team are responsible for all key non customer systems within the estate such as Active Directory, Exchange, Lync, Identity Management, Citrix, Client Technologies etc. The team have end-to-end responsibility for their platforms such as design, strategy and support.

The mission of the Platforms and Engineering team is to provide a highly reliable and secure technology platform for our Enterprise users, supporting the client strategy across Europe, delivered by innovative, world-class professionals.

Provide the highest level of consultancy and engineering support for Windows. We want to increase this to cover client and platform security

Your key responsibilities

As a member of the Client Technologies team within Enterprise Technology, you'll help drive innovation, stability and security on our client devices.

  • Enhance the design of our new Windows 10 build as well continuing to develop and support the existing Windows 7 build
  • Working with wider teams to refine the build, implement testing standards and framework for OS and device benchmarking
  • Work with Windows Engineering & Management Team Leader and Client Tech Manager to rollout to pilot users and plan for future rollout and inclusion in laptop refresh
  • Provide 3rd line support for Windows related issues, incidents and requests
  • Assist in testing new peripheral and device requirements as required
  • Application testing, getting feedback and action improvements or updates to the build
  • Office compatibility assistance to the business to determine if any issues moving from one version to another.
  • Involvement in designing deployment rings in new SCCM infrastructure for new versions of Windows
  • Be involved in monthly client security patching
  • Development and testing of new features/policies for Windows 10
  • Assistance and support in wide scale rollout of Windows 10
  • Amend existing and create new group policies
  • Ensure documentation is kept up to date
  • Ensure Spark queue is managed with Incidents/Requests picked up in a timely manner
  • Perform monthly and quarterly SAO controls

Essential Technical Skills

  • In depth understanding of Windows 7, 8.1 and ideally W10
  • Ability to pick up new technologies and skills within the team
  • Understanding of patching methodologies using SCCM
  • Windows 10 Update Rings
  • Understanding of SCUP 2011 for deploying 3rd Party Application Updates
  • BitLocker/TPM/MBAM
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • PowerShell
  • PKI
  • Windows 10 Passport/Hello/Device Guard
