Weapons Systems Engineer - Plymouth

A market leading organisation is currently recruiting for a Weapons System Engineer to take on a permanent position ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. This particular section of the business supports a wide range of exciting design, manufacture and Equipment support projects, and works with a number of key clients both domestically and internationally. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant rate and, as a result we are currently recruiting for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the weapons test team.

The Weapons test team operates out from the Combined Weapons Electrical Workshop (CWEW) in Devonport Dockyard. The weapons team currently undertake defect rectification, repair and overhaul of a wide range of weapon systems and equipment in support of the Royal Navy. All of the weapons contracts currently operated cover the in service support for the equipment as well as the post design services. There is a requirement for the engineering staff to provide worldwide, twenty four seven engineering support to meet the equipment availability KPIs demanded by our customer.

The primarily role of the Weapons System Engineer is to carry out diagnosis, defect repair and testing of medium and small calibre gunnery systems.

The successful candidate will display the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Mechanical / Electrical Engineering background essential, as well as the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • A self-motivator with good organisational skills.
  • Mechanical / Electrical engineering skills and background.
  • Successful candidate must have a strong H&S ethic.
  • Ability to travel at short notice in support of defect rectification.
  • Willing to undergo CONDO training and operate in a CONDO area.
  • Willing to work as sea and pass a seagoing medical.
  • Demonstrable experience of fault finding and defect rectification.
  • Experience of medium and small calibre guns systems.
  • ONC or equivalent Mechanical / Electrical experience.
  • Full UK passport
  • Full UK driving licence.
