Weapons Engineer/Scientist

PERMANENT, FULL-TIME

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Weapons Engineer/Scientist to join a leading Global Defence Technology & Security Organisation, based in Kent.

Responsibilities

The Weapons Engineer role will be responsible for conducting research, evaluation and assessment of large and small calibre gun systems, as well as providing expertise in Weapon engineering and ammunition assessment.

  • Provide technical direction and individual contribution to technical teams to ensure that programmes are delivered effectively and meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Provide liaison with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders to ensure delivery
  • Ensure the application of an appropriate level of Technical Assurance for opportunities and projects
  • Ensure that customers' requirements and tasks are fully understood and that the problems and issues are identified at the outset.
  • Encourage an open and honest business assurance culture, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • A first degree in Science or Engineering, or an equivalent, nationally recognised, professional qualification. (Over six years of relevant technical support experience would be considered in lieu of the educational qualifier)
  • In lieu of the educational qualifier, would typically have over nine years relevant technical support experience.
  • Technical background with experience of at least one of the areas for which the Weapons Science group is responsible and an aptitude and willingness to develop in the other areas.
  • Experience of providing engineering technical lead role for tasks by setting technical objectives and identifying resource requirements, and then technically leading the task.
  • Good interpersonal, analytical and team working skills
