Vehicle Mechanic, £24,479 + Benefits + pension + Global Defence Engineering Organisation,

I am recruiting on behalf of the UK's leading engineering support organisation. They have a requirement for a number of Vehicle Mechanics (PEWS Administrators) to be part of a key team supporting the maintenance and repair of the Army fleet of armoured vehicles.

This role is an office based role and an ideal opportunity to get off the tools and use your technical knowledge in a different way.

The successful Vehicle Mechanic (PEWS Administrator) will be responsible for inputting the Perform Work Survey (PEWS) information into the ERP system and create an appropriate repair route in the system as required. The PEWS inputting triggers the demand for material to be placed and the repair route plans lists out the sequential tasks operatives need to carry out to complete the job.

Responsibilities;

  • To follow approved processes for inputting of PEWS information into the ERP system
  • To follow approved process for creating routes on ERP system
  • To demand the appropriate material needs based on PEWS information
  • To create customised Bill of Materials (BOM) and routes as required with time efficiency and cost of materials taken in consideration
  • To follow approved safety procedures
  • To input timesheet information via the approved process
  • To input ad-hoc purchase requirements via approved process
  • To request transport, travel and expenses claims via approved system
  • To update Learning Management System (LMS) as required
  • To highlight facilities/plant/machinery problems to Supervisor
  • To highlight concerns of gaps in personal skills and/or competency to Supervisor prior to starting task
  • To highlight PPE or safety concerns to Supervisor
  • To highlight innovation opportunities to Supervisor
  • To highlight when unproductive to Supervisor
  • To move between tasks/work centres/processes as required
  • To be flexible to work alternative patterns/shift including overtime

The ideal candidate will be;

  • A time served apprentice mechanic or military equivalent ( REME or Royal Engineer Class 1 mechanics)
  • Safety conscious
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
