Chief Applications Architect (SC Cleared)

Our Central Government Department client based in London is undergoing a significant and complex transformation, whilst at the same time delivering a wide range of other important change initiatives. They require an SC-cleared Technology Command Chief Applications Architect to join the team and assist in a variety of projects, liaising with senior stakeholders and providing a clear approach for the technology roadmap.

Role Profile

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Set policies, standards and guidelines for application technologies and systems.

Develop and maintain an applications strategy, plan and approach.

Develop and maintain enterprise architecture for the organisation. With the Deputy Director for Systems Engineering and Architecture and Chief Architects,

Put in place the people, process, information, technology and facilities to support architecture and system design.

Create clear and cohesive application technology roadmaps.

Put in place application design patterns, and individual system designs to meet business needs.

Develop system engineering skills throughout the organisation, with a focus on the applications lifecycle.

Lead technology discussions, burden sharing and divisions of effort agreements with national and international partners around applications development.

Be Accountable for the analysis of circa. 250 business applications assessing for Cloud suitability.

Develop application performance dashboards for senior management and board consumption.

Key Skills/ Experience

  • Ability to matrix manage staff in support of CIO programmes and projects.
  • Ability to lead a civilian/police/contractor multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to direct and manage systems engineering activities across a range of application technologies and environments.
  • Successful track record in systems engineering at an enterprise level.
  • Experience with systems engineering within a Police and/or Government environment would be an advantage.
