Technical Support Engineer- Abingdon- 2-3 months.

Essential skills:

The client is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide first/second line telephone based technical support to customers who call in with technical problems or other queries on SIMS. Manage a queue of support calls prioritising and escalating effectively, liaising directly with customers via telephone and online closing calls within stated service level agreements. Work with colleagues to ensure that all telephone and call handling targets are met successfully.

Desirable skills:

Experience of supporting users/business managers in the education sector. Knowledge of Management Information Systems, especially SIMS, experience of supporting other server hosted applications would be valuable.


Provide direct support to customers by taking calls, resolving support issues and responding to general queries. Provide proactive day to day management and support for the supported products. Log support calls on behalf of customers and liaise directly with those customers either via telephone or via support online to resolve those calls to the customers satisfaction. Escalate calls in a timely and effective manner and ensure that any product defects are captured and escalated quickly and effectively.
