Technical Project Manager

Duration - 1 month duration full time, which will be 4 days onsite and 1 day remote working per week (Monday - Thursday onsite and Friday remote working)

Location - Central London

The successful candidate will hold active SC clearance, or be eligible and willing to undergo the relevant checks.

The client is looking for a technical project manager to help manage the migration from the current hosting platform to AWS. The client uses a case management software to manage the licensing of controlled drugs and precursor chemicals. The client needs to migrate from the current hosting platform to an Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform in order for support of the system to be sustained.

The various activities which require planning and co-ordination include:

  • Security assurance and accreditation,
  • Integration of the front-end forms software,
  • Testing of the merged system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the management of the migration project.
  • Implement and manage effective and appropriate project governance for the technical aspects of the project and input these to the overall project management as required.
  • Identify and help manage dependencies and interdependencies and how these relate to wider project and reform programme plans.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with internal and external stakeholders on technical issues.

Essential criteria:

Successful candidates should have experience delivering a range of business and/or IT transformation projects. In addition:

  • Proven track record of delivery of complex or multifaceted technology projects
  • Experience of the alpha through to implementation project lifecycle
  • Experience of working in an agile environment.
  • Strong ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams including user researchers, content designers, policy teams, interaction designers, developers and contractors
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Ability to engage and work with development teams, to understand the technical solution and make informed decisions
  • Strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Desirable Criteria :

  • Previous experience of working on and knowledge of technology infrastructure (including but not limited to; AWS; Azure; Citrix),
  • Significant experience of delivering Migration projects,
  • Experience of planning and manage technical Proofs of Concept, Technical Trials and Dress Rehearsals (for system implementations and/or migrations)
  • Experience of managing in-house delivery through a mix of sources and types of resources
  • Experience of managing delivery through external suppliers
