Technical Manager - LincolnOur client is looking for a Technical Manager responsible for the day to day smooth running of the on-site facilities team (AOFT), delivering the Distributed Synthetic Air/Land Training (DSALT) system at the Air Battlespace Training Centre (ABTC) at RAF Waddington. The Technical Manager's key role is to ensure the technical infrastructure is configured and operationally capable, with all supporting resources in place. You will interface between the AOFT and the MOD's White Force, who design and deliver the training and rehearsal scenarios in line with an agreed schedule.As the Technical Manager you will also work closely with the wider programme and technical team to ensure upgrades, continuous improvements and bespoke technical configurations are accepted and aligned with AOFT operations. In addition, you will be a member of the ABTC Executive Panel.This is a fixed term, 13mth opportunity from 1st October 2019 to 31st October 2020 based at the RAF Waddington site, with some travel to other locations as required.Key Accountabilities:Management of the technical system to ensure it is operationally capable and ready on timeEnsuring AOFT supporting resources are in place in accordance with agreed competency and delivery requirementsEngaging with stakeholders, project managers and senior technical staff to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied appropriately and problems are mitigatedProviding system technical reports and support monthly on-site facility team performance reviewsRepresenting the AOFT alongside project manager, reporting progress and status to internal and external stakeholdersDirecting and participating in engineering trouble shooting, resolving with minimal service disruptionApplying relevant regulatory, safety and company standards in the course of workOverseeing the acceptance of the system following technical upgradesThe successful candidate will be an experienced Technical or Operational Manager, able to manage technical infrastructures and understand the technology behind synthetic training systems. You will be able to rapidly assimilate DSALT specific systems knowledge, with the ability to anticipate the challenges and determine how they should be addressed.Your strong communicate and leadership skills will allow you to work effectively with customers, subcontractors, technical and business stakeholders to deliver high levels of performance and positive behaviours within the team. Previous experience working in the MOD or knowledge of MOD operations is preferred.
