Technical Delivery Manager

About the role

The delivery manager is a key point of responsibility and accountability for the delivery of small to medium projects. You will set direction and implement appropriate controls to manage the delivery of projects within recognised time, cost and quality standards.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys getting things done and uses their initiative to remove blockers and maintain delivery progress and focus on the outcome
  • Is great at reading people and able to demonstrate an ability to support teams to teams to work well together toward a shared outcome
  • Familiar with a range of tools and techniques to use in different settings and able to articulate the rationale behind the choices and bring people with you
  • Is good at understanding the organisational context and is able to modify your approach accordingly, understanding that, no one approach fits all
  • Has experience in delivering supported services, not just software

Essential criteria

  • Some experience in managing delivery on IT programmes using a variety of project management frameworks and an ability to adapt based on organisational context.
  • Experience of team member management
  • Some commercial experience working with a disaggregated supplier base, contracting end to end for services and engagement with suppliers to ensure mutual success.
  • Experience of deriving and managing a budget.
  • Experience of the creation and management of end to end plans, containing dependences.
  • Able to recognise the signs of a project in distress and work with teams on 'get well plans' supporting them through the cycle to successful delivery and escalate issues to senior managers.
  • Experience managing stakeholders and tailoring communications accordingly.
  • Knowledge of a systems integration environment, developing familiarity with up to date engineering tools, techniques and technical products (for example Hadoop, Containerisation, continual integration pipelines, autoscaling, cloud hosting etc.)
