Technical Architect

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high profile public sectors Messaging Delivery Group where you will be working across one of the biggest IT estates in Europe and supporting a large scale and radical transformation that will have a profound impact for both the customers and the staff of the client.

This is a unique challenge for an experienced Technical Architect to manage the clients Messaging Domain during a time of significant change and transformation as they drives the focus of IT delivery away from product centric solutions and fully exploits the opportunities that Digital Services and Data Analytics can provide. This position will play a key role as the interface between the development teams and senior stakeholders within the Messaging Delivery Group and their wider Architecture function.

Essential Skills:

As well as demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, with a positive 'can do' attitude, the candidate will be experienced in the following:

  • Java (EJB 3.x/Spring) (including knowledge of java 6,7 and 8)
  • JPA (Hibernate & Eclipselink)
  • XML (xsd creation and xslt transformations)
  • Weblogic (10g/11g/12c)
  • Web Services (SOAP & REST)
  • Spring (ideally MVC and Boot)
  • JMS
  • Working on high-volume/distributed systems
  • The full software development lifecycle
  • Agile / Scrum Projects, with the proven ability to work in a team environment under pressure to deliver quality products to tight deadlines.
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment methodology and tooling (especially Maven)
  • Oracle database development experience (PL/SQL and schema design)
  • Experience of source control systems (Subversion)
  • Proven ability to technical lead teams (Mentoring, Code Review etc.)
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • Cloud transformation

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of SOA, messaging, event-driven architectures, workflow/BPM
  • Experience of other technologies e.g. Unix, Javascript, Oracle ADF
  • Experience of source control systems (Git)
  • Experience of Agile tooling such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to create, seek and act upon opportunities to obtain and share knowledge
