Tax Specialist

Experis are currently recruiting on behalf of a global leader within the Tax & Accounting Solution domain for a Tax Specialist to join them on a permanent basis in Exmouth.

Role Summary:

Provide expert knowledge of the functions and processes of a tax professional providing a personal tax service, and working with a development team of software engineers, quality analysts and other business experts, provide the domain expertise to ensure products are compliant and customer needs are being met and exceeded by managing the product backlog and effectively estimating and prioritizing work items.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that business requirements are gathered, defined and addressed.

  • Identify and evaluate relevant solutions to business problems.

  • Keep up to date with market trends, professional standards and compliance needs to ensure product remains compliant with latest standards.

  • Ensure required changes are communicated to the development team and that the product is kept up to date with these latest standards providing guidance on priority.

  • Assure the realisation of business benefits by using domain expertise to assist with testing of the product.

  • Host and/or participate in team meetings as required e.g. Estimation, Prioritisation, and Sprint meetings as part of working within the agile development environment.

  • Build knowledge within team and other departments within the organisation.

  • Actively communicate ideas, thoughts and tips etc. within the team (or organisation) for discussion and consideration.

  • Have active involvement in the development and maintenance of departmental and team procedures and define requirements for improving aspects of the processes and systems as necessary with quantification of potential business benefits.

  • Identify and react to changing priorities as and when circumstances dictate.

  • Respond to queries from customers in relation to the current features and proposed enhancements of the product either verbally by telephone or in writing by email or letter, documenting and communicating the outcome.

  • Assist in the documentation of Help and Training material as required.

Required Skills:

  • Practical experience of working within an accountancy practice providing personal tax compliance service.

  • Extensive knowledge of self assessment process.

  • Solid practical experience of tax compliance software.
