Role:Technical Investigations Systems Engineer

Location: Bristol/Corsham/remote

Duration: Initial contract 31st May 2021 (expected to last 36 months)

Clearance: Developed Vetting

Pay: Negotiable on experience (Umbrella only)

We are looking to expand the Project Team to enable the delivery of the next generation of Tactical Communication and Information Systems. BATCIS (Battlefield and Tactical Communications & Information Systems) is responsible for the development, fielding and sustainment of a range of tactical CIS equipment and systems used in the joint Land Environment. The BATCIS portfolio includes communications system itself, the application set the Common Battlefield Applications Toolset (ComBAT), and the Information systems.

The NIOBE Systems and Engineering SME Tasks are expected to be undertaken by a single individual. The incumbent will be expected to work a minimum of 3 days/week at either Bristol/Corsham or Colerne with the other days either working from home or out on-site visits. Some foreign travel may be required. The role is expected to last for up to 36 Months and the incumbent will be working for the MOD for the duration of this time as the Project transitions through Engineering Preparation to Engineering Execution.

Essential

  1. Extensive SME Knowledge of all systems to be integrated into NIOBE, including all currently in service systems to be released into service within Project Delivery Timeframes. Falcon, Satcom On The Move, Legacy Blue Sustain, Link 16, Land Deployed Gateway and BCIP 5.6.
  2. Experience of working with both Industry and MOD organisations in the Engineering management of multiple complex Technical Investigations.
  3. Experience of working with the plethora of Delivery teams as a Systems Engineer and/or Engineering Manager within the UK MOD and especially Defence Digital and DE&S
  4. Eng Degree or Equivalent HNC/HND.
  5. Developed Vetting.
  6. Experience of resolving complex Routing and Tunneling challenges between multiple Systems and Standards.
  7. Experience of Initial Design of Inter System Operation Specifications.
  8. Experience of working with multiple Industry Providers where the focus is upon Integration of existing capability.
  9. Experience of working with systems of different Quality Of Service and Traffic Prioritisation schemes and the methods to achieve interoperation in this scenario.
