Why Recruiting

Based at Coningsby, a leading defence and Security company are looking to bring in a Trials Engineer to support the continued development of the Typhoon aircraft, and deliver advice supporting the Typhoon Mission Support Centre (MSC) and 41 Test and Evaluation Squadron (TES) with future trials and testing. You will provide software testing advice and support to the MSC in the conduct of trials on the Weapon System Support Rig. You may be required to support other UK and overseas customers at meetings, briefings and trials.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Support MSC testing of current and future Typhoon avionics.
    * Support DE&S FAST initiated Technical Demonstrator Programmes for the development and integration of new capabilities on Typhoon.
    * Deliver results from testing to Typhoon stakeholders, including MSC, 41 TES, DE&S FAST and Air Command.
    * Provide training to MSC and 41 TES personnel on the operation, implementation and testing of the Typhoon Mission System in order to bridge skills gaps.
    * Support the MSC in the future development of the Typhoon aircraft and associated avionics sub-systems.
    * Maintain expertise to ensure that current and future developments in the Typhoon programme are understood by UK customer stakeholders.
    * Review Typhoon technical publications and design documentation to maintain and enhance customer awareness of system performance and optimisation.
    * Provide status briefs to MSC management detailing task progression and programme risks on projects for which you are involved.

Essential knowledge, skills and personal qualities
* you must have a Degree qualification in an engineering discipline.
* Have an understanding of systems engineering principles and practices.
* 2-3 years' experience or an equivalent qualification in avionics/software testing.

Desirable knowledge, skills and personal qualities
* Knowledge of Air Warfare Centre trials practice.
* Knowledge of Typhoon weapon system capabilities and avionics architecture.
* Military experience or experience working in a military environment.
* CEng or working towards Chartered Engineer status
* Willing to work away from the MSC and abroad if required for short periods of time.
