Supply Chain Specialist Portsmouth, Lakeside Business Unit: CavendishSalary: Competitive Opening Date: 10/09/2019Closing Date: 08/10/2019About the roleHere at Babcock we are looking to recruit a Supply Chain Specialist on a full time, permanent basis.The Supply Chain Specialist will be aligned to the newly established Managed Service Centre based in Portsmouth and will be directly responsible for shaping the supply chain to provide Babcock International Group's internal training and external customer training. The role will deliver training budgets whilst maximising revenue growth. Specific responsibilities will include: development of training supply chain, sourcing and enhanced due diligence of training suppliers, supplier relationship management, make/buy recommendation.What do I need to do the role?Excellent Communication skills as a result of working with internal Babcock customers and external clientsExperience of the contract life-cycle.Experience of Supplier due-diligenceExperience of delivering valueMaintaining excellent supplier relationship managementA CIPS accreditation is an advantage but not a pre-requisite. What else do I need to know?The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.Additional Key Accountabilities:Develop understanding of supply base and key suppliers.Reduction of risk through robust Terms and Conditions appropriate to training disciplines.Drive continuous improvement through Supplier Performance and Supplier Relationship Management.Limited Customer interface through owning and being able to communicate procurement process and supporting provision of management information.Make/ buy recommendations.Less than 25% travel anticipated to supplier and customer sites.What do I need to do the role?Experience managing complex supply chains to meet contractual requirement and drive maximum value.Contract/ framework placement and management from creation to expiry/ renewal.Understanding of strategic sourcing process inclusive of: budget, market analysis, tendering, evaluation and contract award.Experience of value drivers and cost models inclusive of: cost negotiation, rebates and added value through soft savings.Knowledge of wider Training and Further Education Market beneficial.Understanding of Make/Buy decisions and associated considerations.Experience using ERP systems; specifically Navision.Awareness of risks in training provision and requirements to consider as enhancement to supplier due diligence process.Key Behavioural competencies:The role holder will be primarily responsible for the shaping and management of a Training Assured Supply Chain for both Babcock internally and external customer supply base. It is anticipated that the supply chain will grow exponentially with new business so the supply base must be flexible to accommodate business growth.Self-starter who exhibits own initiative and can work unsupervised.Excellent team working and relationship-building skills for internal and external stakeholder management.Excellent communication skills; written and verbal.Qualifications:Full Driving Licence (Desirable)HNC or HND level qualification in related business discipline.
