Supply Chain Manager - Residual Materials

12 - 18 Month Contract

We are looking to recruit a Supply Chain Manager for a 12 - 18 month contract working for the UKs largest engineering and support services organisation based in Rosyth, Fife.

Following the Aircraft Alliance's involvement in the construction of the two Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier's, a large amount of unused materials, equipment and inventory remain in storage in Rosyth and other parts of UK.

The role of the Supply Chain Manager will be to develop and manage plans and strategies in order to source alternative use, the sale of and/or disposal of this residual inventory. The key focus will be to maximise the best commercial value out of this inventory whilst maintaining a full audit trail.

Duties will include

  • Prepare the Disposal / Supply Chain strategies & plans for surplus materials and equipment and manage the processes and procedures for all residual material
  • Conduct inventory analysis and lead the identification, marshalling and preparation for sale of surplus materials
  • Identify potential purchasers for surplus and determine appropriate pricing. Manage and support or negotiate all commercial, financial, and schedule elements of the disposal of surplus. in line with applicable procedures
  • Pro-actively support and deliver effective management of sales transactions and delivery.
  • Be entrepreneurial in identifying business improvements resulting in revenue generation or cost saving opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between Warehousing, operations and the purchaser for the purpose of sales of surplus.

Experience / Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Application of end-to-end Strategic Sourcing
  • End-to-end strategic procurement lifecycle
  • Identify and manage cost drivers in the Value Chain and the principles of Total Cost of Ownership
  • Application of Value Engineering/Cost Reduction processes
  • Portfolio Analysis and Management
  • Contract Management & Relationship Management best practice
  • Contract and supplier performance management
  • Application of Supply Chain Governance practices
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory frameworks on Supply Chain practice (Import/Export, ITAR, Defence Procurement Regulations)
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Management Systems - familiarity with the Inventory Management element of IFS is particularly desirable
  • Naval Ships Product Domain Knowledge is desirable
