SSAS Developer / Microsoft Stack Application Developer - London - 3 month contract

SSAS Developer / Microsoft Stack Application Developer required to join a multinational insurance company based in London on a 3 month contract.

The Role:

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Microsoft stack application developer with specific experience developing SSIS packages for data extraction and SSAS cubes for data analysis. The ideal candidate will possess excellent data management and manipulation skills and will understand the technical challenges associated with handling very large data sets (multi-billion row tables stored within IBM Netezza).


  • Primary responsibilities will be to assist with the design and execute the development of the ETL and Cube load packages whilst providing technical expertise on performance optimisation.
  • Contribute to the design of data models and architecture for use by the SSAS OLAP solution (iDive).
  • Develop performance optimised SSIS packages to extract data from the IBM Netezza Data Marts into the SQL Server SSAS data models.
  • Develop data models within SQL Server to support SSAS cube generation.
  • Unit test technical solutions and liaise with release management and QA functions to ensure solution quality/integrity.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Data Stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI)
  • Extensive experience building large scale, global SSAS analytic solutions
  • Extensive experiencing building highly efficient SSIS ETL packages sourcing data from multiple data sources (primarily IBM Netezza)
  • Expert in SQL
  • Experience working within an Agile SCRUM SDLC
  • Experience with business intelligence data modelling techniques and tools, including dimensional modelling using Kimball approach
  • Degree qualification in relevant discipline

Skills and Experience Desired

  • Experience of SQL Server 2017 suite (including Tabular and DirectQuery SSAS Models)
  • An interest in statistical and predictive modelling
  • Experience of the IBM Netezza Pure Data Data Warehouse platform.
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting
