SQL DBA
Farnborough, Malvern or Salisbury

SQL DBA is required by prestigious organisation in their state-of-the-art Farnborough, Malvern or Salisbury offices.


As the SQL DBA, you will be responsible for the day to day operation, integrity, management and maintenance of the SQL Server database estate supported across the company. The role will also support the development, improvement and the optimisation of procedures in QinetiQ's database environment, utilising a working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and its associated technologies, in addition to and any other database systems implementation required by the business.

You will be passionate about data, be knowledgeable in emerging technologies, which will allow you to play a part in moving the business forward.

Essential Skills for the SQL DBA:

  • Hold or be eligible for SC clearance
  • Knowledge of SQL configuration & administration.
  • Experienced in performance tuning, design and optimise high performing on premises and cloud-based SQL Server installations.
  • Skilled in SQL Server administration and support
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience SQL Server development environment
  • Experience working with data warehouses
  • Excellent knowledge of T-SQL Scripts like Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Temporary Tables, Joins, Sub-Queries etc.
  • Skilled in query optimisation & query plan analysis
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and analyse technical problems
  • Positive can do attitude
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous experience of working in an Agile environment



Desirable Skills for the SQL DBA:

  • Microsoft Azure
  • Microsoft Windows Server
  • Clustering & High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts
  • Redgate SQL Monitor
  • Have other relational and non-relational database management systems Defence industry experience
