Role: Sourcing Commodity Specialist

Location: Gloucester

Duration: 6 months

Rate: Negotiable on experience

Role Summary:

The Sourcing commodity specialist is responsible for defined work or projects in support of MRP and Commodity Strategies. In this role you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understand strategies for assigned commodities and proactively drive initiatives to meet Sourcing objectives
  • Understand and adhere to Global Sourcing Procurement procedures, Company Sourcing policies and work instructions.
  • Prioritise Buyer standard work activities
  • Place timely Purchase Orders (PO) and obtain PO acknowledgements from Suppliers
  • Manage order book health (due and promise dates) to ensure MRP is up to date with latest information
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure all parts are delivered on time in full, have a plan to work through delivery issues and improve OTD to target
  • Ensure supplier compliance with regulatory and reputation requirements
  • Obtain quotations for parts and packages of work
  • Implement sourcing standards including process & execution, synergies for cost out.
  • Assess supplier capabilities and make recommendations on supplier acceptability
  • Drive productivity opportunities with supply base to deliver cost out goals and in year deflation target.
  • Use Spotfire reports to help manage supplier performance and report on issues.
  • Escalate issues that impact the customer using the most adequate escalation paths
  • Seek understanding of company products and what differentiates us from competitors
  • Gain some market expertise in commodity area.
  • Understand Sourcing leadership guidance on economic, political and regulatory risks/opportunities affecting assigned commodities and drive business strategies accordingly.
  • Understand Sourcing leadership guidance on risks and benefits of different partnership structures
  • Challenge status quo with processes, technologies and current assumptions.
  • Effectively communicate, adapting the style to the audience, knowing when to be concise.
  • See the big picture and break it down to segments to get information needed
