Solutions Architect - SEO

£41,640 - £45,974 + £4,563 IT Allowance

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Solutions Architect to join a public sector client based in Plymouth, working on a permanent basis. You will lead the development and communication of solutions to meet business needs, taking an overall strategic view, ensuring architecture principles, and ensuring delivery with consideration of cost, risk and timescale. Essential Experience

  • In-depth experience of designing and implementing information/data solutions.

  • A depth of skills in at least one of the following specialist technical areas:
    • information/data engineering
    • integration engineering (including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques)
    • software engineering.
  • Significant experience working within IT Functional Specialism post, with experience in information system design. This will ideally include experience of platforms and languages appropriate to the current architectures (e.g. IBM Z/mainframe, Microsoft Windows, and Oracle technologies,) and transformational architectures (e.g. cloud and virtualisation technologies, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases)
  • Proven track record of providing sound advice on a wide variety of application and data issues based on a breadth of IT technical knowledge.
  • Proven track record in creating, documenting and assuring IT solution / Data Architecture and high level designs that address user needs.
  • Experience of leading / effective working with IT technical specialists.
  • Experience of quickly assimilating information to provide technical guidance / direction within a framework of current business and architecture strategies.

Desirable Experience

  • ISEB Enterprise and Solutions Architecture Intermediate Certificate Agile/SCRUM Master Certification.
  • Proven track record of designing IT solutions within a structured framework, managing the IT solution touch-points with project management (e.g. PRINCE2), procurement (e.g. GCloud), software development (e.g. Agile/SCRUM) and service management (e.g. ITIL) methodologies.
  • An understanding of Central Government IT related

Initiatives, policies and standards e.g. Cabinet Office and Government Digital Service strategies, the GDS Design Manual and Government Open Data Strategies.

  • An understanding of as many as possible of the following techniques:
    • Process Improvement
    • Stakeholder management
    • Eliciting Business Requirements
    • Business and IT alignment to inform strategies and policies
  • An understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less structured sources.
  • Experience of delivering solution architectures within an enterprise architecture framework methodology (e.g. TOGAF, Zachmann).
  • Experience of the competitive IT procurement life-cycle; specifically solution specification and evaluation criteria
  • Experience as a data analyst.
  • Data-modelling and information classification expertise at the enterprise level.
  • Familiarity with MDM, BI and data warehouse design and implementation techniques.
