Key Responsibilities

Planning & Reporting:

  • Generate, Own & Maintain Top Level Plans for Software Releases that scope incremental functional content against targets prioritised and agreed with stakeholders dependent Teams.
  • Create and maintain release schedule based on estimate input from Development and Test/CI Teams based on Effort, Resource, Timescale & Cost.
  • Generate high visibility of above plans & schedules.
  • Provide weekly status report to Software Engineering Manager.
  • Compile and present status Reports to product owners, Project Managers and Senior Management as Required.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Generate & Maintain a Budget/Cost Management system to track Estimates, Allocations and actual spend for owned Software Releases.
  • Process administrative tasks in support of the Team to include Supplier Contracts & Statements of Work.

Operational:

  • Be the first and central point of contact for all aspects of Release Planning and Delivery responding to Changes or Issues in a timely fashion working with Stakeholders & Technical Teams to resolve.
  • Lead and provide direction to all involved teams to ensure that Release Development and Testing activities are Coordinated effectively.
  • Facilitate and Lead Meetings to expedite Release Scoping & Planning, Development & Test Oversight, Issue Management, Field Trials and Final Deployment.
  • Track and Escalate (as necessary) any and all issues impacting ability to deliver software releases to plan.
  • Identify, Arbitrate and Mitigate Operational Conflicts or any other Risks to Release Delivery.
  • Work closely with product owner and Team to Ensure that Release Requirements are captured, understood and communicated.
  • Ensure that all Deliverables and Acceptance Criteria are defined and that all parties with a functional role in the delivery process are Informed,

Process Leadership:

  • Provide contributing input into process and other initiatives to streamline and optimise the operational aspects of Software Delivery.
  • Devise metrics and reporting mechanisms to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Skills Required

  • Academic or Vocational Qualification in Project Management or Applicable Engineering Discipline
  • Strong Software Project Management Skills with Cost and Timescale Estimation, Planning and Execution
  • Understanding of Agile Software Development Methodologies
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Time-Boxed , Test Driven Development
  • environment delivering software fit for high profile consumer products.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the implementation of embedded software releases into a production environment
  • Solid understanding of the Lifecycle of embedded Software Development
  • Proficient in the use of defect tracking process and systems
  • Ability to compose and deliver engaging reports pitched appropriately to different audiences from technical through to management
