Shift Engineer - Electrical - 18 month fixed term contract

c£43k base plus benefits - inclusive of shift allowance

Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Engineering Support Services organisation for an electrically biased Engineer to join them within their Facilities department to lead a shift covering Maintenance Engineering, HV Switching and Incident Management at their facility in Rosyth.

The main deliverables of this role are as follows -

  • To carry out the role of Authorised Person Level 1 (AP1) - full training given if not already HV Authorised - to ensure that the sites High Voltage Distribution System is operated safely, carrying out switching and Permit issues for the site
  • To supervise/coordinate the NRT and Electrical Utilities maintenance team for the maintenance of site infrastructure and buildings
  • Undertake Planned and Corrective maintenance operations
  • Supervise and coordinate other industrial staff or sub-contractors when required
  • Carry out the role of Incident Manager as per site guidelines
  • Carry out recovery actions in the event of loss of Electrical or Mechanical suppliers to all areas
  • Carry out the role of Site Clearance Officer for all electrical services
  • Provide planning and technical assistance to facilities team as required
  • Assist with design, planning, supervision and control of all electrical Projects
  • Assist with the update and control of all electrical documentation to ensure compliance with Company procedures and statutory regulations

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • HNC in a suitable Engineering Discipline or 5 years of equivalent experience
  • 17th Edition Regs
  • Trained in HV Switching / safety & management or willing to undergo HV Authorised Person Certification
  • Effective supervisory skills, to ensure best use of available staff and resources
  • Sound technical background with strong experience of Electrical Systems (High and Low Voltage)
  • A working knowledge of MS Office
  • Good communication skills able to liaise with staff at all levels
  • Practice approach with ability to quickly react when necessary to meeting challenging priorities and objectives
  • Must be able to gain and maintain UK SC level security clearance

This is an excellent opportunity with a leading engineering service organisation to join them initially on an 18 month fixed term basis in a unique environment to provide 24x7 x 365 shift cover for provision of Electrical Services and General Maintenance Engineering.
