SHEQ Business Partner

£55-60k plus package


Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client - a leading Engineering Support Services organisation for an experienced SHEQ professional to join their team to lead and manage staff and drive forward the SHEQ strategy within their business operations.

The main responsibilities of this role are as follows -

  • Lead and support Senior Business Partner to drive agenda through the Executive team and take responsibility for influencing the shape of SHEQ strategy development and delivery
  • Collaborate with centralised SHEQ functions to set standards and bring consistency for Information Assurance, Quality, Wellbeing as well as relevant Health, Safety and Environmental matters
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with key functional and operational stakeholders demonstrating a clear understanding of operational challenges and safety risks that impact our employees or others
  • Manage direct / line reports, proving direction, guidance, coaching and developing talent; fostering a collaborative working ethos across the wider team
  • Promote positive safety and securing culture through leading by example, coaching managers to implement and role-model behaviour
  • Support Senior SHEQS Business Manager in determining the business unit SHEQS risks and priorities in alignment with the Companies business strategy; develop these strategies with business owners to address these risks; agree and support the delivery of SHEQS priorities
  • Support line managers and oversee event investigation, evidence gathering reports and upload of information to central system; lead serious / more complex events investigations; manage and execute internal and external reporting, performance management and escalation requirements
  • Ensure effective mechanisms and forums are available to update and involve employees on changes and improvements to SHEQS policies and processes
  • Implement Audit framework across operational teams to ensure compliance with regulations and controls imposed by regulatory organisations; ensure process performance / compliance is monitored
  • Partner with the business to ensure SHEQS training matrix for line managers is in place and delivered for compliance, operational and behaviour based SHEQ

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety leadership / supervisory position
  • CMIOSH of working towards attaining CMIOSH status, supported by NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work in supporting / managing the implementation, maintaining and auditing : ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Must be excellent communicator able to engage staff at all levels
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Be able to demonstrate integrity when dealing with SHEQ matters
  • Someone who is able to change and influence behaviours in an approachable, engaging and inspiring fashion
